Factors to consider before buying a laptop.

There are many things to consider when buying a laptop. These include battery life, weight or how you will be using it. As I am an applied psychology student I wouldn't need a laptop that is too extravagant. I would only need one that has simple features.

How I am going to use my laptop: As i am only going to be using the laptop for simple emailing, word processing and PowerPoint i wont be interested in a laptop with the best processor and that big of a memory. As I am in college it would need to be portable rather then a bulky and rugged model as i would be carrying it around alot. The weight of the power cable and other attachments need to be considered as well.

Battery Life:As a college student i will be using my laptop alot of the time around the campus where there may not be a power supply so choosing a laptop with a long battery lifespan is a key factor. Remember larger laptops have larger batteries but this may not suit some students as it may hinder travel.

Using your laptop:With applied psychology there is alot of computer use so your laptop is a very important feature of your student life. Most laptops have a cramped keyboard so at least choose try to find a laptop with a keyboard with which you can comfortably type. Durability is also very important. With all the assignments and projects that come with applied psychology you will be taking your laptop around with you alot of the time. You might want to consider a model with a shock resistant hard drive. This will enable you to use your laptop during bumpy rides and surviving falls to the ground. If at all possible you should give your laptop a test drive to make sure it is compatible with your style of computer use. This is necessary because when you buy a laptop it is keep the whole laptop or throw away the whole laptop as it is very difficult to replace specific parts of the laptop itself.

Laptop display:Buying a laptop with a high definition display maybe unnecessary for me as a student as it would be more expensive in the buying process. A regular display would suit my computer use just fine.
